Eric LeGrand was a junior defensive tackle for Rutgers University.  On October 16, 2010 his life changed forever.  During a 4^th quarter kick-off return in a game versus Army, he suffered a spinal cord injury after making a tackle.  At 20 years-old, he was paralyzed from the neck down.  Doctors gave him a 0 – 5% chance of regaining neurologic function.  Today, Eric has sensation in his entire body and he can move his shoulders.

Eric, this message is for you:

Believe.

You have taken one word and inspired millions.  Your hard work and perseverance is unmatched.  It would be so easy for you to give up and accept the negative.  But it is clear, that is not you.  Your mind will not let you give up and that is admirable.  You have been to the bottom and there is nowhere to go but up.

Congratulations on all your success so far.  Of course, you were not expected to make any progress, but like the strong man you are, you proved them wrong.  You have stayed incredibly positive this entire time.  You have not, and will not, let anything stop you from living your life as best you can.  There is so much the world can learn from you.

Please don’t ever give up.  Don’t worry about statistics and don’t worry about the numbers.  All you need to worry about is achieving every single goal you have.  No statistic, remedy, or exercise can compare to the will power you have inside of you.  It is that will power that will lead you to one day walk again.

It is our hope that in those times when you get down, this message will provide you with the inspiration you need to push forward and never give up.  We hope you realize that every day you are alive is a good day and every new day is one step closer to achieving your goal.

You are a true inspiration to everyone.  You have the support of millions.  That support will help you lift every finger, toe, arm and leg.  Until that day you walk again.
